About the Project
GreenHouse Theatre Project are creating their third ACE funded immersive performance in Stoke-On-Trent. A company that produces exciting and bold theatre inspired by the people and buildings of Stoke-On-Trent, they are currently looking for a theatre designer for their next show, The Station (working title). This production will follow the journey of a young girl searching for a sense of home as she tries to find where she belongs in this strange new city. Travelling through Stoke-On-Trent train station, on a 1970’s bus and arriving at B-Arts warehouse, featuring a cast of four, the audience will adventure around the city meeting larger than life characters as the story unfolds.

Responsibilities
The Set Designer will be expected to create a durable set and costume design which shall cover two spaces; the old bookstore in Stoke train station and the warehouse space in B-Arts.
The designer will work with the Production Manager to build, resource and install the set, props and costumes within budget according to the production schedule.
We are looking for:
Someone interested in creating small-medium scale work in a multi-venue site-specific production to include set and costume design.
Someone interested in making work in as close to carbon neutral as possible.
Must have west-midlands/North West base and able to travel to Stoke-On-Trent/ Buxton.
A collaborative and open hearted team player who enjoys working on new works.

Fee
A fee of £3000, paid in instalments. (Equates to approx 15 days - days required to be agreed between directors and designer)
Travel expenses of up to £350 to cover the rehearsal and performance period. Payment for expenses paid upon proof of receipt.
Materials Budget
A materials budget of £3000 is available to cover all resources including set build, transport of set, costumes and props. All purchases to be reconciled with invoices/receipts.

Roles & Responsibilities
As Production Manager:
-
Work collaboratively with the company and venues.
-
Attend Preliminary Design Meeting with Creative Team (mid-August - date TBC based on availability) & Final design meeting (early Sept - date TBC based on availability).

Draw up, maintain and share a live production schedule with the whole team.
-
Verify design is within budget parameters in liaison with designer, feedback to Directors.
-
Collate responses from production team after design meetings and feedback to Designer and Directors.
-
Fit up set in venues with Designer.
-
Ensure build RAMS and H&S documentation are agreed and completed before build commences in each venue. Ensure materials are ordered in a timely fashion, within budget.

Arrange resources for the Rehearsal Rooms in Stoke.
-
Ensure rehearsals RAMS are completed prior to rehearsals starting and updated before commencing any new activity.
-
Arrange and lead production meetings during rehearsals, weekly, this can be over zoom.

Ensure design drawings are kept up to date and issued to the whole team. Negotiate any design issues or changes with Designer and team during build.

Ensure any on site issues are managed appropriately and solutions agreed. Facilitate effective regular communication amongst the team.

Ensure performance RAMS are completed prior to Tech Week and updated as needed.

Ensure build, fit-up and tech schedules, and RAMS are adhered to. To ensure that all possible steps are taken to ensure the safety of cast, crew and audience in relation to the production.
As Deputy Stage Manager
-
Be in the rehearsal room from 30th September, taking over being on the book from the directors as DSM.

Support the Cast and creative team in the rehearsal room.

Share daily rehearsal notes to all departments.

Create, manage and track audience routes, actor “on stage” and backstage plots and prop journeys.

Create and send rehearsal schedules.
-
Schedule and attend rehearsals, run the technical and dress rehearsals.
-
Call each performance, noting any issues and sharing show reports.

We are looking for

Accommodation provided in Stoke-On-Trent from 23rd Sept if no local base OR travel expenses of up to £450 to cover the rehearsal and performance period. Payment for expenses paid upon proof of receipt.

About the Project

Join us for an immersive adventure across the city of Stoke-On-Trent as we follow our young protagonist as she chases the feeling of ‘home’ and looks to find her place within her new world.
This is a new work inspired by workshops and sharings with the communities of Stoke-On-Trent. Please note this is an immersive show that travels across various venues and includes audience interaction. Performers must have excellent story-telling skills, willing to work in non-traditional theatre spaces & an open-hearted approach to theatre making.

Skills: We are looking for a strong story teller with excellent audience interaction skills and experience in multi-role. Strong singing voice a bonus but not requirement. Must be comfortable performing in non traditional theatre spaces.
